Sarung Batik Rekso Manah and Dlimo
KUDUS – Dozens of sarongs are neatly arranged in the display case of the Al Hazmi Batik Sarong Shop, Purwosari Village, Kudus District/Regency. Several buyers appear busy choosing the batik motifs they like with the help of several employees.
Every day, the shop is always crowded with residents who want to buy sarongs with elegant motifs. In fact, buyers can be confused because Al Hazmi Sarong provides 60 motifs with more than 100 series.
According to the owner of Al Hazmi Batik Sarong, Budi Wicaksono, of the many motifs, the most favorite are reksa manah and dlimo moncer. Rekso is Javanese for caring and manah means heart. The hope of the maker for those who wear the rekso manah batik sarong is to be able to guard the heart and prejudice.
"Then dilmo moncer, the philosophy is someone who has a mature side in thinking, behaving, and all aspects of life. So dlimo moncer means maturity," he explained, Saturday (04/20/2024).
"The two best-selling motifs are the creations of Al Hazmi. The initial idea came about because I think every batik motif must have a meaning. So the motifs that we produce ourselves are not available anywhere else," continued Budi.
Regarding the price, he priced it from IDR 110 thousand to IDR 225 thousand for handprinted batik sarongs. Meanwhile, for handwritten combination batik motifs, it ranges from IDR 150-400 thousand.
"Currently, thank God, we have collaborated with several school institutions in Kudus and even Jepara. There are already many online orders, even to other islands," he added.
Al-Hazmi batik sarongs have many fans. Not only in Kudus, this sarong brand that has dozens of motifs is also popular with people in many regions. Due to the large number of enthusiasts, Al-Hazmi has 80 agents spread across various regions in Indonesia, and its sales have even reached overseas.
When met at a shop located in Purwosari Village, Kota District, Kudus Regency, the owner of Al-Hazmi Batik Sarong was willing to share information about the sales of his products. Budi said that a number of agents are in Kudus, Jepara, Pati, Kendala, Gresik, and Jogja, and a number of other regions.
"We have even sent our products overseas, but that was last year. And most of them are Indonesians who now live there. Some of these countries include Malaysia, Singapore, Yemen, Egypt, and England," he said, Friday.
According to him, this year there have been no shipments overseas. Even so, domestic marketing is still very large. Product innovation in the form of batik motif creations that are continuously carried out, makes customers continue to come.
"For motifs, we have approximately 60 motifs with a total of 120 series. So the motifs are 50 percent typical Kudus motifs and the rest are classic Javanese motifs," he said.
Budi explained that Al-Hazemi batik sarongs have the advantage of an exclusive design that is designed by himself. In addition, his party also uses fabrics that are usually used for hand-drawn batik. These materials include, prima cotton, bercolin cotton, juantiu cotton, and kotin primise cotton.
"The production of this batik sarong uses the hand print batik technique. So for the batik pattern I draw it myself. For the results, this batik can be translucent, so that if the fabric is turned over it does not look upside down," he said.
He said that this year his party has released many motifs, including pingitan, kembang ploso, drajat mukti, tunjung kencono, parijhoto, kopi mu pria, menara kretekan. Then for the middle of Ramadan, there are tawang kusumo, sido asih, parang ceplok, and Pisan Bali motifs.
"For the price range, it is between Rp105 thousand to Rp200 thousand. So from regular to premium classes, there are all," Budi explained.
