Fashion Show 'Batik Sogan' at the 266th Anniversary of Yogyakarta City

Yogyakarta - A total of 182 participants in the 'Batik Sogan' fashion show participated in the celebration of the 266th Anniversary of the City of Yogyakarta which was held at the Beringharjo Atrium Market.


Hundreds of market traders in the city of Yogyakarta enlivened the fashion show titled 'Agen Mandiri Fashion Day', on Saturday (8/10/2022), at the Beringharjo Market Atrium.

The participants wore 'Batik Sogan' clothing typical of Yogyakarta and strolled around showing off batik clothes with the best models and quality like professional models.

This activity in order to enliven the 266th Anniversary of the City of Jogja was warmly welcomed by market traders, market communities, and tourists who were visiting Beringharjo Market.

The participants of the fashion show are traders and community members from 13 markets in the city of Yogyakarta.

They came from Beringharjo Market, Prawirotaman Market, Pingit Market, Sentul Market, Gedong Kuning Market, Serangan Market, Kranggan Market, Pasty Market, Ngasem Market, Legi Market, Karangwaru Market, Demangan Market, and Pujokusuman Market.

Prizes are up for grabs, first place winner gets IDR 2 million, second place winner IDR 1.5 million and third place winner gets IDR 1 million.

"We very positively welcome what the Yogyakarta City Trade Office has done in collaboration with Bank Mandiri in the Yogyakarta area, because this activity is (beneficial) to strengthen market traders in Yogyakarta City and improve financial literacy by bringing banking products and services closer to the market. , through Mandiri Agen," said Sumadi.

He added, with the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that all economic actors in Beringharjo Market and its surroundings will be more optimistic to continue to innovate in selling their merchandise and services for a better future.

The head of the Yogyakarta City Trade Office, Veronica Ambar Ismuwardani, said that this activity is an initial event that is expected to become a routine program of the Yogyakarta City Trade Office in collaboration with Mandiri Agen Yogyakarta area.

Ambar said that the enthusiasm of market traders was extraordinary. The initial target was only 60 participants, but the audience exceeded expectations to 182 fashion show participants.

"We took the theme of Sogan batik, which is batik with the characteristics of Yogyakarta. Hopefully it will be useful in economic recovery and community empowerment, especially after the pandemic period." Amber explained.
