Special Batik Gift for Her Majesty's Birthday The Brunei Darussalam Sultanah

Brunei Darussalam - On the birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam Paduka Seri Baginda Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, two pieces of Indonesian batik silk were selected as a special gift from all the wives of the heads of foreign representatives as well as the female ambassadors of foreign representatives in Brunei Darussalam. On October 7, 2022, the Sultanah of Brunei Darussalam celebrated her 76th birthday and received the batik gift in the Nurul Iman Palace.

During the presentation of the gift to Her Majesty The Sultanah of Brunei Darussalam, Mrs. Nani Sujatmiko, wife of the Indonesian Ambassador to Bandar Seri Begawan, spoke on behalf of the group.

"It took six months and the expert hands of Indonesian batik artists to craft this gift. These two batik textiles' patterns are based on traditional Javanese themes and have unique significance for each user, according to Mrs. Nani.

The designs on these two batik cloths, "banyu mili" and "peacock ngibing," each have their unique philosophy. The initial motif, "banyu mili" or "flowing water," conveys the wish that the wearer would keep gaining power and support just like flowing water. On the other side, the "peacock ngibing" symbol represents a manner of life that is consistently tranquil, harmonious, and calm.

Particularly in Indonesia, batik fabric is regarded as a work of art, a representation of cultural legacy, and a component of the country's identity. We are thrilled to finally be able to give this lovely gift, which is full with profundity and philosophy, remarked Mrs. Nani.

Her Majesty The Sultanah of Brunei Darussalam expressed care and a strong relationship with the diplomatic corps in Brunei Darussalam through this visit, according to Dr. Sujatmiko, the Indonesian ambassador to Brunei Darussalam and the Dean of the diplomatic corps in that country.

Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia greeted each participant as the ceremony began solemnly. All of the spouses of the heads of diplomatic missions and the female ambassadors of diplomatic missions thanked Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia for allowing them to attend the ceremony.
