200 Batik Makers Show Their Skills at the Batik Bakaran Juwana Festival
Juwana Pati - A total of 200 batik makers in Juwana District demonstrated their written batik skills along Jl. Sergeant Darmin in Bakaran Wetan Village.
The Village Government (Pemdes) Bakaran Wetan, Juwana District, Sunday (2/10/2022) held a Batik Festival in commemoration of National Batik Day which was officially set on October 2.
The 200 batik makers from young to old age look so adept at showing each process of making Batik Tulis.
The Acting Regent of Pati Henggar Budi Anggoro, who was present accompanied by the Head of the Pati Youth Sports and Tourism (Disporapar) and his staff, greatly appreciated the activities aimed at preserving the typical cultural heritage of Pati.
“Here, all the batik makers are Batik Tulis, none of them are printed batik, we will leave the batik printing behind. We are trying to protect Javanese culture by continuing to use hand-drawn batik,” he said in an interview.
Henggar considered that preserving written batik needed to be published to the general public, especially Pati's typical Bakaran batik to the national level.
Henggar also said that if this burnt batik was able to become national, it could create a multiplayer effect. In addition, the economy in the Juwana region will continue to run.
“In Pati, there are batik centers. And this burnt batik, has a distinctive characteristic. And this is what we always encourage. Hopefully, the burnt batik will be better," he concluded.
He also hopes that in the future the Bakaran Wetan Village Government will be able to hold similar activities. He is optimistic that the commemoration of National Batik Day next year can be held more excited and spectacular.
