Batik Rongkong Motif Bua Kalebu Appearing in Fashion Show Themed The Elegance of Batik Sulawesi
Makassar - Rongkong Batik is again coloring the fashion show. This time the Fashion Show was held by Mercure Makassar Nexa Pettarani at Losari Restaurant, Mercure Ground Floor in commemoration of the 2022 National Batik Day which falls on October 2, 2022.
The Fashion Show with the theme The Elegance of Batik Sulawesi showcased various batik collections from top designers from Makassar, South Sulawesi, including Salvadora by Iskandar Yusri, Rasuan Lampahan by Lynadesriana, Arie Rich and Istinana.
Interestingly, the management of Mercure Makassar, Nexa Pettarani, also enlivened the fashion show by taking part like a model by using batik as a form of pride in this indigenous Indonesian culture.
The event was supported by Wardah Cosmetics and Amisty Photo, and was lively. One of the designers from North Luwu Regency, Andar Yusri, participated in presenting 5 of his best works, and carried the theme "Fazzura Series" or Horizon in the Rongkong Sky.
The Rongkong batik motif that he shows through experienced fashion shows is the Roto Bua Kalebu motif. "We present 5 contemporary men's clothing outfits with a touch of Rongkong batik wrapped in the Bua Kalebu motif," said Andar.
The Rongkong Batik with the Bua Kalebu motif, he said, was sponsored by Griya Batik Rongkong Luwu Utara with the owner, Bulan Masagena. Griya Batik Rongkong Luwu Utara itself is located in a mountainous area, namely in Rongkong District.
Andra said, Mercure Makassar Nexa Pettarani will continue to hold various events, collaborating with local creative workers and MSMEs. "With events like this, we will further introduce and preserve our local cultures," he concluded.
