Probolinggo Holds Batik Sheen Festival

Probolinggo - To revive batik in Probolinggo Regency, Adikarya Batik Embroidery and Accessories Craftsmen (APBBA) together with the local Youth, Sports and Tourism Office (Diskopar), will hold the 2022 Batik Shine Festival. The festival will be held on Friday (15/7/2022) ) until Sunday (17/7/2022).


The creative event which will be held at the Bentar Beach tourist attraction, Curahsawo Village, Gending District, will feature 18 batik motifs under the auspices of the APBBA, Probolinggo Regency. The theme of the festival is "Proud of Probolinggo Batik".

Head of APBBA Probolinggo Regency, Mahrus Ali said, this activity aims to raise batik in Probolinggo Regency. Because during the C0vId-I9 pandemic there are no exhibitions and so on.

Mahrus explained, on the first day there will be a special spot for the Acting Regent of Probolinggo, Drs. HA. Timbul Prihanjoko chose batik motifs which would later be used as ASN uniforms in Probolinggo Regency.

"What is clear is that the Acting Regent will choose one of the batik motifs that have been provided by the participants. Later, all batik craftsmen will send batik motifs to Probolinggo Regency. Then one will be selected. Those who are chosen in this festival, the work of friends will be used as an icon for the batik uniform of Probolinggo Regency," he explained.

In addition to choosing batik motifs for the ASN uniforms of the Probolinggo Regency Government, Mahrus explained, on this occasion, batik motifs will also be chosen for PAUD, TK, SD and SMP uniforms. "So there will be a new uniform for students starting from PAUD, TK, SD and SMP," he said.

For the second day, it is clear that Mahrus will be filled with batik motif coloring competitions in the RA category and the TK category. And on the third day, the chirping bird competition will be the Probolinggo Regent's Cup with a special category with delegates from the sub-district and general categories.

“For people who want to visit and wear original batik, either written or stamped and not printed, there will be a ticket price discount of 50 percent. Even though they don't wear batik clothes, the bag has a batik pattern and there is a ticket price discount of 50 percent. The point is there are nuances of batik. Please show it to the officer at the ticket purchase counter," he explained.
