Regent Promotes Batik Jombang, Uses Natural Colors, Looks Beautiful and Elegant
JOMBANGKAB - Jombang Regent Hj Mundjidah Wahab collaborated with renowned designer Lia Afif, from Jombang, to promote Jombang Batik to support the preservation and development of the Batik Jombang creative economy.
One form of support from the Jombang Regency Government on National Batik Day on October 2, 2022 will take part in the Surabaya Fashion Parade on October 7, 2022 in Surabaya, and at the same time enliven the 112nd Anniversary of the Jombang Regency Government on October 15, the beautiful works of Putri Jombang We will show this on Fashion Street on October 15, 2022.
This was conveyed by the Regent of Jombang, Hj Mundjidah when accompanying Lia Afif and the models wearing clothes created by Lia Afif using Jombang batik material during a photo shoot at the Pendopo, Jombang Regency, Tuesday (4/10/2022) morning.
The Regent was amazed that Batik Jombang could look stunning and elegant if it was designed properly.
"On behalf of myself and the Government of Jombang Regency, I feel proud, Jombang has a designer whose name is well known everywhere, and through his skillful and creative hands, Batik Jombang has become a beautiful garment," said Regent Mundjidah.
The Regent said that Lia Afif's clothes are already national. For this reason, I deliberately invited Lia Afif to design clothes made from Jombangan batik. "We will also introduce this when the momentum of the Jombang Regency Government Anniversary is October 15 at the Jombang Hall later," he explained.
The Regent explained, various efforts to promote Batik Jombang continue to be echoed. One of them is to include Jombang's typical batik in the Surabaya Fashion Street event next week as well as various other exhibition events. "That way we want Batik Jombang to be more widely known in order to increase the selling value of Jombang batik," said Regent Mundjidah Wahab.
On that occasion, Regent Mundjidah Wahab encouraged the designers and batik craftsmen in Jombang to continue to innovate to introduce Jombang batik. "We are committed to introducing batik outside the region, one of which is through this exhibition that will be attended by Mbak Lia Afif," he concluded.
The number of Jombang Batik Craftsmen who are productive and produce the best works are around 25 (twenty five) craftsmen, spread over several areas in Jombang Regency.
Most batik craftsmen are in Jatipelem Village, Diwek District, while other batik craftsmen are in the Jombang District, District. Mojoagung, Peterongan and Ploso districts.
In order to support the potential development of Jombang Batik and Tourism in Jombang Regency, Lia Afif also did a photo shoot of her work at tourist locations to boost the village's tourist attraction.
Among them are photo shoots in Carangwulung, Wonosalam District, in the Pine Forest and Jawi Village. According to him, this photoshoot is an effort to introduce Jombang Batik in East Java, even nationally and internationally, which has an impact on regional economic development in general and in particular the economic improvement of Jombang Batik craftsmen.
Lia Afif hopes that young people in Jombang will also pursue the world of batik which is increasingly promising as a driving force for the family and community economy.
