Simple Ways Young People Love Batik More
In the era of globalization and the development of today's era, a lot of local fashion is neglected, one of which is batik. Not a few, young people in Indonesia prefer fashion that is influenced by foreign trends.
This makes local brands unable to compete in the fashion market. Thus, not many local brands touch elements of Indonesian culture. Supposedly, Indonesian citizens, especially young people recognize and love batik more.
Ahmad Sartono, Chairman of the Indonesian Cultural Friends Community and Adi Perdana, General Manager of Luminor Hotel, explained a simple way to make young people love batik more.
Ahmad Sartono said that the awareness of young people to love batik can be started from their parents and the surrounding environment. In addition, the provision of batik workshops and talk shows can also foster a sense of love for batik for young people in Indonesia.
"Maybe it can be realized from parents and the local community. Look at tourism, a hotel makes an idea like this. Or like I am a cultural activist, I go directly. So everyone is working together," said Ahmad Sartono, when met at Luminor Hotel Pecenongan, Jl Pecenongan, Gambir, Central Jakarta on Friday (6/10/2022).
Meanwhile, Adi Perdana said that the role of social media is very important to voice the love of batik. Moreover, young people are very aggressive with social media.
"Now is the era of social media. Later, after this event, we will also post it on social media," he explained.
Adi Perdana hopes that designers can create the latest batik motifs according to the trends of young people. This is so that young people are more in love with batik.
"For young people to see batik culture is not only traditional cloth. With the presence of designers can use batik as their creations. Not only (preserved) the elderly, but young people can be expected to preserve batik," he said.
"The government can also attract young designers. Not (only used) for official events, but can be other events," he continued.
