As Chair of Dekranasda, Laila Saidah Witiarso is Committed to Increasing the Creative Industry
The Chairperson of the Central Java Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) Nawal Arafah Yasin officially inaugurated 35 Chairpersons of Dekranasda Regency/City throughout Central Java, including the Chairperson of Dekranasda Jepara Regency Laila Saidah Witiarso. The inauguration was held at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Semarang, Thursday, (17/4/25).
Also present were the Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen, Head of the Jepara Regency Tourism and Culture Office Eko Udyyono and Head of the Jepara Regional Secretariat's Economic Section Ferry Yudha Adhi Dharma Rahardjo.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of Dekranasda Central Java Nawal Arafah Yasin said that the presence of Dekranasda in this Regency/City is very important and has a positive impact in supporting the handicraft industry, economy, and culture in Indonesia.
Furthermore, these craftsmen also make positive contributions, for example in reducing unemployment rates. Nawal said that these craftsmen SMEs contributed 2.97 million jobs or 10.05% of the total number of workers in Central Java, which is 20.86 million people.
However, he asked not to be proud of this achievement. Because according to him, there are still many problems and obstacles from craftsmen which are a big task for Dekranasda.
"So I ask the Central Java Dekranasda management and all Regency/City Dekranasda Chairmen to complete these tasks," he said.
He asked Dekranasda to focus on steps based on the vision and mission to solve these problems. Some of the steps he mentioned include updating craftsmen data, providing facilities and opening access to digital literacy, synergizing with the government, BUMN, and BUMD, and collaborating with existing stakeholders.
"We expand training, access to capital, product standardization, and marketing. These four are the keywords," he concluded.
Met after the event, the Chairperson of Dekranasda Jepara Laila Saidah Witiarso said that she would carry out the direction of the Chairperson of Dekranasda Central Java to increase the creative industry in Jepara.
"After this inauguration, I will focus on improving Jepara's MSMEs so that they can compete at the national and international levels to move up a class," she explained.
She added that Jepara is already known worldwide for its craft products, such as carving, Troso weaving, monel crafts, and Jepara batik. However, she realized that MSME business actors still need support, one of which is through the role of Dekranasda.
