Bumi Kartini Holds Jepara Traditional Fabric Fashion Show

Welcoming the 96th Mother's Day in 2024, the Jepara Regency Government held a parade and fashion show competition at Pendapa Kartini, Monday, (12/23/2024). The competition was attended by all heads of regional apparatuses within the Jepara Regency Government, heads of BUMN, and BUMD along with their wives.

Present at the event were the Acting (Pj) Regent of Jepara H. Edy Supriyanta, Acting Chairperson of the Jepara Regency PKK TP Ny Eka Edy Supriyanta, and the Jepara Forkopimda and their wives.

In his remarks, the Acting Regent expressed his appreciation for the holding of the parade and fashion show competition in the context of the 96th Mother's Day. According to him, the participants who wore Troso woven cloth and Jepara batik were a real form of pride in the cultural heritage and beauty of Jepara.

"Including me and my wife also wearing unique clothes. This is the work of Naila, a student of SMK Negeri 2 Jepara," said Edy.

The Acting Regent and his wife appeared elegant in Troso woven clothing combined with Jepara batik by the young generation of Jepara. Naila explained that the batik pattern was inspired by the peacock in front of the Kartini Pendapa. He also hopes that Jepara's typical fabrics, including his work, will be able to go global through similar events.

In line with this, H. Edy Supriyanta said that Jepara batik and Troso woven fabrics are the cultural heritage and identity of the Jepara community.

"Hopefully, this event can increase the awareness and pride of the Jepara community towards local culture. Including developing the creativity and innovation of young designers so that their work can go global," he said.

On that occasion, the Acting Regent and Forkopimda along with his wife also strutted on the catwalk showing the beauty of the clothes they were wearing and then followed by the participants.

A total of 104 participants took part in the parade and fashion show competition. The best performance appreciation was given to the Department of Social, Community and Village Empowerment (Dinsospermasdes), PLN Jepara, and the Department of Transportation.
