Batik Pesona Wastra Karangploso Greets Jakarta
The aroma of a hot night and damp cloth still lingers in the corner of a modest house in the Yonkes 2/2 Kostrad dormitory area, Karangploso. It is there that the patient hands of Mrs. Sri Astuti put the final touches on dozens of hand-drawn batik pieces soon to depart for Jakarta.
Three days before the opening of the prestigious Persit Bisa Vol II 2026 event, the house has transformed into a production workshop and a small gallery. Fabrics with signature Malang and Batu motifs are neatly arranged—some folded, some hanging—as if ready to “tell their stories” to the capital’s audience on 7–9 May.
Mrs. Sri Astuti, wife of Kopda Arif Ariyanto, is not only preparing her works but also carrying great hopes from behind the dormitory walls to the national stage.
Yet behind the beauty of these fabrics lies a story of the power of support and togetherness.
For Mrs. Sri Astuti, the journey to the national stage has not been walked alone. There is a significant role played by the Chairperson and Advisor of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana (KCK) Koorcab Divif 2 PG Kostrad, who have become the driving force behind the growth of Brilliyans Batik.
Their support goes far beyond words. It has turned into real actions: purchasing, wearing, and promoting Mrs. Sri’s batik on various occasions.
“The support from Ibu Ketua (Chairwoman) and Bapak Pembina (Advisor) has been extraordinary. They don’t just encourage me—they genuinely wear my batik creations. That is both a source of pride and the best promotion for us,” said Mrs. Sri, her eyes sparkling amid her busy work.
This attention has even extended to details that are often overlooked. Recognizing the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (UMKM) when exhibiting outside their city, Persit KCK Koorcab Divif 2 PG Kostrad has ensured that accommodation needs and travel costs are fully covered.
This support has allowed Mrs. Sri to focus on what matters most: presenting her very best work.
Amid all the preparations, one piece of news touched Mrs. Sri’s heart the most—the plan for Ibu Ketua to attend the exhibition in person. Her presence is not merely symbolic, but an invaluable boost of motivation.
“Hearing that Ibu Ketua will come in person makes me even more enthusiastic. This is a huge responsibility to bring honor to the name of Koorcab Divif 2 PG Kostrad on the national stage,” she said hopefully.
Now, all preparations have reached the final stage. From quality checks and labeling to the concept for the Wastra Nusantara-themed booth display, everything has been meticulously prepared. Brilliyans Batik has been selected as one of the 61 UMKM that passed the central curation—a hard-earned achievement.
Behind every piece of batik that will be exhibited in Jakarta lies a story of perseverance, support, and dreams nurtured together.
From behind the dormitory fence, these creations are now ready to step forward and greet the capital, carrying the identity of their region and proving that creativity, when supported by togetherness, can shine on the national stage.
Persit Bisa Vol II 2026 is not just an exhibition. For Mrs. Sri Astuti and Brilliyans Batik, it is a journey of hope and the belief that works born from a simple corner can become a source of pride for Indonesia.
