New ASN Batik Officially Launched in Bulukumba, First Local Batik Enterprise in the Region

Bulukumba – The Bulukumba Regency Government has officially launched the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) batik uniforms for all staff under the Bulukumba Regency Government for 2026.

The launch was part of the series of events for the 66th Bulukumba Anniversary celebration held at the Main Stage of Merpati Beach, Bulukumba, on Wednesday night, 4 February 2026.

The ASN batik was symbolically launched by Bulukumba Regent Andi Muchtar Ali Yusuf, accompanied by Deputy Regent Andi Edy Manaf and Chairwoman of TP PKK as well as Chairwoman of Dekranasda Bulukumba, Andi Herfida Muchtar. Also present was Andi Mawar, Chairwoman of the Bunga Mawar Batik Group from Topanda Village.

During the launch, several pairs of ASN staff wore the batik and walked across the stage in front of thousands of spectators.

What makes it special is that this ASN batik is a genuine local Bulukumba product. Previously, ASN batik uniforms were produced outside the region, but this latest design is the work of mothers from the Bunga Mawar Batik Group in Topanda Village, Rilau Ale Subdistrict.

The batik group is mentored by Dekranasda and TP PKK Bulukumba and only began producing batik in December 2025. Although relatively new, the quality and design of their batik are considered competitive with products from outside the region.

The Bulukumba ASN batik is dominated by orange with a combination of leaf green. Its patterns feature distinctive elements of Bulukumba, such as the majestic Pinisi boat, the sacred nuances of Kajang customs, and dynamic traditional dances that create a strong identity for the design.

This batik has been designated as mandatory official attire for ASN staff under the Bulukumba Regency Government and will be worn every Friday.

Bulukumba Regent Andi Muchtar Ali Yusuf expressed his pride in the birth of this ASN batik, created by the creative hands of Bulukumba women. He hopes the batik will not only serve as official attire but also become a symbol of regional pride.

“This is proof that Bulukumba is capable of producing quality works from the creative hands of its own people,” said Andi Utta.

Meanwhile, Hamzir Arsyad, an ASN staff member from the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Agency (Disparpora) Bulukumba, said he is proud to wear the locally produced ASN batik.

He believes the quality of the batik made by the mothers of Topanda Village is equal to those produced outside the region.

“In terms of design and quality, this batik is very good and deserves to be a source of pride,” Hamzir said.

It is worth noting that this batik enterprise began as an initiative of the Bulukumba Trade and Industry Agency in collaboration with Dekranasda Bulukumba. In December 2025, dozens of prospective batik makers were trained and mentored by professional instructors from Yogyakarta. As a result, the batik group — which previously only produced beach fabrics — is now able to produce its own batik.
