Disability Booths Become a Major Attraction at BWBF 2026, Products and Talent Receive High Appreciation

Bojonegoro – The Bojonegoro Wastra Batik Festival (BWBF) 2026 was not only a platform for cultural preservation and strengthening the creative economy, but also provided an inclusive space for persons with disabilities to showcase their works and abilities.

Through a special booth facilitated by the Bojonegoro Regency Social Affairs Office, persons with disabilities had the opportunity to introduce various products and services to the public during the BWBF event held from 17–20 June 2026.

The Social Affairs Office booth became one of the most visited spots. Various ecoprint batik products created by persons with disabilities were displayed, along with blind massage services that received strong appreciation from visitors.

Chairman of the Bojonegoro Regency Disability Association (PDKB), Sanawi, appreciated the support from the Bojonegoro Regency Government for providing a dedicated space for persons with disabilities to become more independent.

“Usually we join under the Dekranasda booth. This year we were given our own space through the Social Affairs Office booth. This is a great opportunity for us to be independent and to show that we are also capable of creating,” said Sanawi in Bojonegoro Regency, East Java Province, on Friday (19/6/2026).

The spirit of inclusivity was also demonstrated through the participation of persons with disabilities in the Wastra Batik fashion show. One participant, Putri Wahyu Lestari, a deaf woman from Sanggar DOT ART Ngraho, confidently walked the catwalk wearing a batik outfit designed by Agus Urip Wijianto.

Her performance received an enthusiastic reception from the audience.

Head of the Bojonegoro Regency Social Affairs Office, Agus Susetyo Hardiyanto, said that the presence of an independent booth and the involvement of persons with disabilities in various BWBF activities prove that physical limitations do not prevent someone from producing valuable works.

“We are very proud of the active participation of persons with disabilities in this year’s Wastra Batik event. Their involvement proves that physical limitations are not a barrier to creating works with both aesthetic and economic value,” he said.

According to Agus, the Social Affairs Office will continue to provide assistance and create more opportunities so that persons with disabilities can become increasingly independent and receive equal opportunities in society.

Meanwhile, Head of the Social Rehabilitation Division at the Bojonegoro Regency Social Affairs Office, Nafiatin Ni'mah, emphasized that the involvement of persons with disabilities in BWBF is part of efforts to fulfill rights and provide equal opportunities.

“We organized this activity so that our friends with disabilities have the same space and opportunities as the general public. They do not need pity, but they need opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and potential,” she asserted.

Through the active participation of persons with disabilities, BWBF 2026 has become not only a cultural celebration but also a strong message about the importance of equality and inclusivity in society. The event also demonstrates that persons with disabilities are capable of creating, achieving, and making real contributions when given equal opportunities.
