Promote Batik in New Caledonia, PMIK Invites Batik Crafters from Yogyakarta

Mont-Dore New Caledonia – The Association of Indonesian People and Their Descendants (PMIK) in New Caledonia invited 2 batik artists from Yogyakarta, Fikky Ananda and Djoni Sumantri to promote batik.


The batik exhibition by the two artists was held at the PMIK Building on Sunday, October 2, 2022, right on National Batik Day. In addition, on that day, visitors can learn to make batik, and watch a batik fashion show.

PMIK President, Thierry Timan said that the presence of the two artists could be realized thanks to the support from the Mont-Dore city government and the association of the twin cities of Mont-Dore Yogyakarta. A batik exhibition will also be held at the cultural center of the city of Mont-Dore, from October 5 to October 30, 2022.
