Lumajang Batik and several handicrafts such as silver, bamboo and superior products of Lumajang MSMEs have been exhibited by the Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of East Java Province for the past few days, where Lumajang has succeeded in stealing the attention of visitors from all corners.

The 2024 Batik Embroidery and Accessories Fair art and craft exhibition took place at the Exhibition Hall Grand City Surabaya, May 8-12, 2024, becoming a sparkling event for batik craftsmen and MSME actors from Lumajang Regency. By displaying a variety of exclusive batik and regional accessories.

On the sidelines of the opening of the 2024 Batik Embroidery and Accessories Fair, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Pj. The Head of Dekranasda Lumajang Regency, Rahayu Agus Triyono explained that the marketing strength for MSMEs is through participation in various similar exhibition events.

"By participating in various exhibitions, we can promote MSME products more widely and increase market share. Not to mention, accessories made in Lumajang are also the main attraction," said Rahayu.

Presenting the beauty and uniqueness of Lumajang batik, visitors are introduced to a variety of distinctive embroidery motifs and techniques. Starting from traditional motifs to modern creations, each batik work radiates the beauty and richness of Lumajang culture.

This event also provides an opportunity for MSMEs to expand their networks and increase sales. The collaboration between Dekranasda and craftsmen is expected to bring new enthusiasm to the regional creative industry, as well as strengthen Lumajang's position as a center for quality batik and crafts.

According to Winarsih, a Sekar Agung stamp and hand-drawn batik craftsman, until approaching Eid 2024, the enthusiasm of residents who buy Lumajang batik is still relatively quiet. According to her, the trend of buying batik usually increases when there are batik uniforms or batik events.

"I myself started a batik business in 2010, after attending a batik training held by the TP PKK Lumajang Regency during the era of Regent Sjahrazad Masdar, from representatives from each sub-district at that time, the business was only running by 3 people," recalled Winarsih.

Until now, Winarsih's Lumajang batik business is still running, although not as busy as a few years ago, as the number of batik entrepreneurs is increasing. In addition to the fabrics that are ready in her simple gallery, people can also order certain motifs to be made.

"The price for fabrics that are ready to sell is according to the level of complexity, both for stamped and hand-drawn batik, recently batik with natural dyes has started to be popular. I myself sometimes still participate in exhibitions on several occasions both in Lumajang and outside the city to continue to introduce Lumajang's typical batik," she added.
