Batik Obor from Tegalsambi Village Jepara
JEPARA – Tegalsambi Tourism Village, Tahunan District, is one of the villages located south of the center of Jepara City. To get to the village, it is only 15 minutes by car from the Jepara square.
Geographically, Tegalsambi Village has an area of 142 hectares. The total population is 5,048 people, consisting of 1847 family cards (KK).
Besides having beautiful beaches, culture and art are one of the main capitals of tourism in Tegalsambi Village. The Obor war became an icon of the village. The plan, the Obor War will be held on June 20, 2022.
Obor wars are held once a year, to be exact in the month of Apit (Javanese calendar) on Monday Pahing. In addition to this tradition, Tegalsambi Village also has a Batik Obor.
The making of Batik Obor itself has been carried out since 2020 and is carried out by young women who are members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Tegalsambi Village. Then Batik was launched in 2020. For marketing through social media and Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
Batik Obor received appreciation from Pj. Regent of Jepara Edy Supriyanta. This was revealed when receiving an audience from the Head of the Annual Head of Sub-District Nuril Abdillah and the Village Chief of Tegalsambi Agus Santoso in his office, Wednesday (25/5/2022) regarding the implementation of the Obor War, next June.
According to Edy Supriyanta, the Obor war tradition must be maintained. Likewise with Batik Obor, it must be developed and introduced to the public.
He hopes that the traditions that exist in each village can be lifted and introduced through social media or other means. So that people know that every village has potential that can be developed.
“Keep the existing tradition. Introduce the traditions and potential of each village through social media," he said.
Meanwhile, Agus Santoso when contacted via his cell phone said that Batik Obor received support from the Jepara Regency Government. So that Batik Obor craftsmen get capital assistance and develop.
Not only that, he also hopes that the Jepara Regency Government will make Batik Obor an official uniform for employees in Jepara.
"We hope that Batik Obor will get support from the Jepara regency government, and become the official uniform for all employees of Jepara," he explained.
On that occasion, Agus Santoso, accompanied by the Annual Head of District, Nuril Abdullah, gave a Batik Obor to Edy Supriyanta.
