Ecoprint Batik from Indonesia Go International

Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage that is now increasingly popular in the international arena. Batik has a variety of motifs that are adapted to the characteristics of each region. However, one of the many batiks that is popular worldwide is called ecoprint batik.

As the name implies, ecoprint comes from the word 'eco' or ecosystem which means biological or natural environment, while 'print' means print. So, ecoprint is batik that is printed using a variety of motifs. The patterns that are most often used are about the environment or nature such as leaves, flowers, and tree trunks.

Of the many ecoprint batik entrepreneurs in Indonesia, one of them has successfully penetrated the international market. The name of the label is Batik Prateshi by Pintya Dwani. The ecoprint batik business, which has been established since 2018, has been a worldwide success, friend!

Thanks to the cooperation between production and third parties, this batik finally managed to penetrate the global market, and the countries that were part of the target included Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan to the United Arab Emirates. In total, the overall turnover in a year, Batik Prateshi can earn from Rp. 250 million to Rp. 290 million.

The success of the Batik Prateshi ecoprint cannot be separated from efforts to innovate to continue to create the latest motifs. In updating his motifs, he took inspiration from various kinds of leaves, flowers, and tree trunks that came from his residence in Semarang.

"So I grow my own plants according to the desired motif, both in my house and in the homes of the craftsmen," he said.

In addition to his batik production which has reached foreign countries, now his business is also growing. Now Pintya Dwani already has 6 craftsmen employees. Not only that, but Batik Pratesthi has also received guidance from the Dharma Bhakti Astra Foundation (YDBA). Thanks to his success, he will now add two more craftsmen.

Not only craftsmen, Pintya Dwani also plans to add ecoprint motifs with new types of products such as prayer mats and wallets. He hopes the production of ecoprint batik motifs from his business can increase by up to 30% from the current 80 sheets of fabric each month.

Talking about marketing, he admits that he uses two channels, namely online and offline. First, the offline route, he already has Batik Pratesthi supplier stores located in Semarang, Salatiga, and Jakarta. Meanwhile, for the online route, he markets his products through social media and marketplaces. In addition, he also hopes that his business can become an educational tourist spot.

Well, this is one more batik model that is starting to enter the global market. More proud of Indonesian clothing, especially ecoprint batik. Hopefully in the future there will be more Indonesian products worldwide.
