Three Japanese Students Learn Shibori Batik with 14 College Students
Malang - Three students from Japan, namely Hanako (20), Rin (21) and Hiyori (20) learned to make shibori batik with Fikrah Ryanda Saputra's Hamparan Rintik SMEs, Friday (30/09/22).
These three students from Japan's Kanda Daigaku University seemed enthusiastic and enthusiastic about batik being taught by Fikrah. Not only the three students from Japan, but this shibori batik event was also attended by dozens of students from 14 universities throughout Indonesia who were present in Malang City.
"It's very nice to be able to participate in this batik activity, because in Japan there is no activity like this," said Hanako, Friday (30/09/22).
Hanako (20) and two of her friends who took part in this batik activity admitted that it was quite difficult, especially since she and her friends had never tried it. But with the many variations taught, Hanako felt the difficulties disappeared instantly.
"Yes, it's quite difficult, but because there are so many variations, the feeling of difficulty disappears," said Hanako.
The arrival of Hanako and her friends to Indonesia, especially Malang, in order to participate in the introduction to Indonesian culture program held by the STIE Malang Kucecwara campus or ABM.
"I'm here to learn Indonesian and its culture. I've been in Malang this month, the program is a year in Indonesia," said Hanako.
Meanwhile, Fikrah Ryanda Saputra, founder of Hamparan Rintik, said that this joint batik event is a series of events ahead of the Julang. An event to welcome high hopes so that they can encourage each other among batik craftsmen.
This Julang Julang event is an activity for the second time. This event was held by expanse of rintik in collaboration with omah joy which is a community of people with disabilities and observers of people with disabilities.
This activity was held for three days from September 30 to October 2, 2022. The event was held at Creative Hub, the secretariat office of Gekrafs Malang on Jalan Majapahit Number 1 K, Kiduldalem Village, Malang City.
In the three-day activity, two interesting agendas were presented, namely an art exhibition from friends with disabilities and a culinary bazzar.
"There are two big agendas, namely an art exhibition and a culinary bazzar. In the morning there is a workshop, then in the afternoon there is a talk show about disability. So starting with the deaf, blind and physically disabled. In the evening there is a theater," said Fikrah Rianda.
Fikrah said the main target of the Julang Julang event was to show equality between disabled and non-disabled friends.
"Our target is to show equality between disabled and non-disabled friends, we want to create an inclusive ecosystem," said Fikrah Rianda.
